George Nostrand Robert Erdmann
Douglas C . Pierson died unexpectedly on August 18 , 2016 at the age of 84 . He was born in Glen Ridge , New Jersey and attended Cornell University and Cornell Law School , graduating in 1956 . His legal career spanned over 60 years beginning at Black Wilson Coffrin & Hoff in Burlington . In 1962 , he founded , with Albert W . Coffrin , the firm currently known as Pierson Wadhams Quinn Yates & Coffrin , LLP . He continued to practice law and remained a devoted steward and mentor of the firm until his death . Doug ’ s practice focused on every aspect of business , corporate and insurance law . He was one of Vermont ’ s most respected and distinguished trial and business attorneys . He served as chair of the Vermont Judicial Ethics Committee . He was an active leader of his communities serving in Vermont as alderman and town councilman , and in Florida as vice-mayor and most recently head of the Jupiter , Florida , building committee . Doug was married to Pat ( Milligan ) Pierson who he met in the third grade . They would have celebrated 62 years of marriage in September . He is survived by Pat , four children , nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren . He loved his family , his friends , gardening , tennis , the practice of law and his dog , Barbie .

Born in Oceanside , NY on July 1948 , George W . Nostrand died on Wednesday , September 21 , 2016 at the age of 68 . The oldest of 9 children , Nostrand received his JD , cum laude , from St . Louis University School of Law in 1973 and was admitted in Vermont that year . He practiced law for 43 years in the fields of corporate law , commercial real estate development and estate and trust planning at Salmon & Nostrand of Bellows Falls , after becoming partner to the firm in 1977 . Attorney Nostrand was a member of the VBA , ABA , Windham County Bar Association and served as chair of the Vermont Professional Responsibility Board . Nostrand loved Bellows Falls , serving his community as a founder of the Bellows Falls Area Development Corp ., as counsel for many local businesses and entities , as Director of the Bellows Falls Trust Company , President of Rockingham Memorial Hospital , VP of NE Kurn Hattin Homes and as a founding member and Director of the Okemo Mountain School , among others . He was instrumental in preserving the historical character of the Bellows Falls downtown village and railroad park . Nostrand enjoyed officiating weddings as a local Justice of the Peace . He is survived by his life partner and special friend Sue Davis Glimenakis , his three sons and her two daughters .

Robert H . Erdmann died at the age of 87 on October 19 , 2016 after a long battle with Vascular Parkinsonism and dementia . Erdmann grew up in New Jersey and joined the Air Force in 1950 training as an F-86 Sabre Fighter pilot and flying 60 missions during the Korean War . He was awarded the Command Pilot badge , the Air Medal , the Combat Readiness Medal and the Distinguished Flying Cross . In 1956 , Erdmann attended UVM , where he flew as part of the Green Mountain Boys at the Vermont Air National Guard and then went to George Washington School of Law where he served in the DC ANG . After receiving his JD , he joined Wick , Dinse and Allen in 1963 . He focused on trial litigation and became partner in 1970 . Erdmann was President of the NE Defense Counsel Association and taught business law at UVM . While practicing law , he stayed with the Vermont ANG ’ s 158 th Fighter Group and became a Flight Commander and Base Operations Officer . He retired from the Guard in 1973 with a rank of Lt . Colonel . Erdmann coached Peanut League baseball and assisted his children with 4-H beef-raising activities and raising pigeons and turkeys . Erdmann was passionate about missionary work and was an active volunteer with the Burlington Meals on Wheels . He is survived by his wife , Carole , of 60 years , and their four children and families .
