Access to Justice Campaign
We
have
now
completed
the
2016-2017Access to Justice Campaign.
Thanks for your generosity and support.
We had 97 new first time donors this year,
along with our longstanding support from
many of you and your firms.
Our fifth Vermont Poverty Law Fellow,
Mairead O’Reilly, will continue her two-
year fellowship into next year. Her work
to date and going forward on the Vermont
legal system’s response to the opioid epi-
demic includes both case work and public
policy collaboration in administrative rule-
making in the Vermont Legislature, the At-
torney General’s office, and the Public De-
fenders, to name a few.
Thanks to Deborah Bailey for all of her
hard work, along with Campaign Co-Chairs
Rob McClallen and Gary Karnedy and all of
the County level campaign attorneys who
made many calls. The north/south compet-
itive rivalry helped increase donations, with
Karnedy ultimately conceding a narrow de-
feat to McClellan, but vowing northern vic-
tory in 2018! The County Bar Associations
were particularly supportive this year.
Congratulations to VATC and Downs
Rachlin for reaching the $100K contribu-
tion mark, and we look forward to sever-
al other firms reaching that milestone next
year. Special thanks to Judge Hoar for co-
ordinating the generous contributions from
the Bench.
The Justice Fest Events were a great suc-
cess. We would like to thank the follow-
ing businesses who donated their services
in full or in part to the foundation:
