Ellen Richardson Andrews
Born in North Strafford, New Hampshire, Ellen Richardson Andrews died July
30, 2014. After growing up in Lebanon,
New Hampshire, Ellen graduated from
Johnson State College and Vermont Law
School, where she earned her J.D. in 1985.
She practiced law in Barre until her retirement in 2004. She served on the Barre City
School Board and the Barre City Council, and was a past president of the Business and Professional Women’s Group,
BPW. She was also a long-time member
of the Central Vermont Rotary Club, having served as president in 1994 and 1995.
She is survived by her three children, three
grandsons, as well as two great-grandsons,
and by two sisters and many nieces and
nephews.
Joseph W. Foti
A native of Rutland, Joseph W. Foti died
September 1, 2014. Born November 23,
1913, Foti read law in the office of Robert
H. Ryan in Montpelier and was admitted to
the Vermont bar in 1941. He practiced in
Montpelier and owned and operated several businesses in the area. He was active in
many civic organizations. He is survived by
a son and a daughter, ten grandchildren,
and sixteen great-grandchildren.
David P. Frey
Born in Akron, Ohio, September 15,
1958, David P. Frey, 55, died July 20, 2014.
After attending Norwich University, David
pursued business ventures in New York,
California, and Vermont before embarking on his legal career. He worked with
his wife at Steckel Law Office as business
manager, paralegal, and associate attorney
for ten years. He was licensed to practice
law in Vermont after completion of a four
year clerkship and passing the bar exam.
He founded the Vermont Victim Advocacy Project, through which he provided pro
bono legal services to crime victims. He
