Veiled: Perspectives is a coffee table book that insightfully explores the challenges that Muslim women face in Western society in respects to their choice of religious dress and aims
to reinterpret those stereotypes and notions placed upon them regarding their freedom of
self-expression through religious body/head coverings. A voice is given to Muslim women
for them to share their stories and experiences wearing the veil. The book takes a different
approach to the discourse on Islam and veiling for religious reasons to understand the
ideas behind veiling and how those experiences, choices, and reasons differ from woman
to woman.
By giving voice to Muslim women who practise covering, we are able to hear their perspectives and shed light to the topic that has for so long ignored the personal thoughts and
motivations of Muslim women in our society.
