Vega Johannesburg will be supporting the RE-imagine Movement headed by Vega co-founder Gordon Cook , who was appalled to discover that out of 10,600 public high schools in SA , only 6.8 % offer one or more of the five creative arts subjects — music , art , design , dance or drama .
The old Alhambra Theatre , which is a listed historical building , will be “ reimagined ” as the flagship hub for a number of performing arts schools , offering , initially , “ fast-tracked creative training ” to high school pupils on an extracurricular basis , in conjunction with the Wits School of Arts , Vega and the University of Johannesburg . The campus is looking forward to a briefing from Gordon Cook to take the collaboration forward .
