A word from Shevon Lurie Dear Veganites and Vega Friends 2017 has been a stellar year so much so that I created an ever-growing list to keep track of our milestones and achievements, below is an extract of my 2017 Vega highlights: • Our 2017 Find Your Purpose video which succinctly captures the Vega essence and our design, brand communication and brand management portfolios. Our students have excelled on the awards front this year: 1 x D&AD, 2 Gold, 2 Silver and 4 Bronze Loeries, 1 x IAB Black Pixel Bookmark and a PROMAX BDA Africa Vega and The Design School of Southern Africa joined forces to create an extensive design portfolio covering Graphic, Digital, Game, Fashion and Interior Design in addition to Photography and Copywriting 96% of our class of 2015 graduates were placed within 6 months of graduating – testament to our applied training approach and skilled Navigators. The successful launch of our Bachelor of Computer and Information Science in Game Design and Development – first year students have performed beyond our expectations and set the benchmark high going forward Our midyear average module pass rates of 89%, across all qualifications and years of study, is an exceptional academic achievement Our Bordeaux campus received a much-needed face lift and was officially relaunched by Nando’s CEO, Robbie Brozin in September We signed our 3rd international student exchange alliance with Sup De Pub, a leading communications school with campuses across France (Paris, Bordeaux • • • • • • • • • • • • and Lyon), and satellite campuses in several international cities Vega supported 73 students with bursaries in the 2017 academic year Three Vega Navigators presented at the SA Private Higher Education conference on design thinking and co-design Four Honours students and their supervisors have been published in 2017 Brands and Branding Encyclopaedia Eleven Vega students were appointed to the inaugural Brand Council Student Council Vega partnered with the Advertising and Media Association of SA (AMASA) and will be the official media training provider for AMASA in 2018. 2017 also saw the launch of a dedicated awareness campaign for The Independent Institute of Education – our accredited and registered provider of which Vega is an educational brand.
