Since its inception in 2003, the Arlington, Virginia-based
small business has transformed itself to take advantage of
opportunities and high-growth areas such as cloud computing
and cybersecurity.
In the Beginning
When it began, TechTrend provided IT professional services
to the government sector, particularly at the federal level with the
U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Defense Information Systems
Agency (DISA), and the Federal Aviation Administration.
The company entered the SBA’s 8(a) program for small
disadvantaged minority-owned businesses in 2007 and, one year
later, landed a DISA contract that allowed any federal government
agency to procure a wide variety of hardware, software, and services
from it. The contract, unique because it did not specify products, allowed
TechTrend to become a significant valued-added reseller to the government.
“That really enabled growth for us,” said Chris Demory, VP of Sales
and Operations at TechTrend. “From 2012 to 2015, we grew substantially,
