The same fate befell Wolves in May this year after more than 13,000 fans signed a petition complaining that the money shop’s business practices ‘[did] not fit with the ethics of the football club.’ Now vape companies are stepping up to provide teams with some much-needed ethically-derived capital that will help spread the positive vaping message to a wider audience. Case in point is Commonwealth Games boxing champion Frazer Clarke, who Vapouround and Lik Juice proudly sponsor. On March 30, Scottish Premier League club Rangers announced that Vaporized would be their ‘official vaping partner’ for the forthcoming season. Vaporized Manufacturing and Compliance Director, Doug Mutter, said: “We’re delighted to announce our partnership with Rangers, allowing vaping in the stadium concourses to help fans stay on their path to freedom.” Two months later, the company announced the release of a Rangers- themed e-liquid range, with amusing, pun-laden names such as StrawBarry Ferguson, Tobacco the Net and Boys in Blue Razz. Rangers weren’t the first high-profile sports club to team up with a vape company. Totally Wicked have supported St. Helens rugby since 2013.
