This feels like more of a refresh of the Revenger series, rather than an entirely new device, but that is no bad thing. The Revenger X was runner up for Best Mod at the 2018 Vapouround Awards and received much critical claim from all corners of the industry. Aesthetically, the Polar will be familiar to Vaporesso fans. It’s very similar to the Revenger, albeit with straight edges. The only other notable change is the 2” colour display, so if you enjoyed the look of the Revenger, but feel it’s time to upgrade, the Polar could be for you. Ergonomically, the difference is even less noticeable, this is still a compact dual 18650 device that fits nicely in the hand regardless of whether you use your thumb or index finger to fire. Construction, fit and finish are all stellar for a mid-priced device. There are no rattles, gaps or flimsy materials and I’m confident that the Polar will hold up for a good while when used as a daily driver. It’s not the most rugged device, but there are many options specifically tailored for those who put their mods through the ringer. The Omni 4.0 chipset and 2” TFT colour screen set the Polar apart from previous Vaporesso offerings. The Omni boards have always been simple and responsive, but the 4.0 is even quicker than previous models. Navigating the extensive options is easy thanks to the intuitive menu design and large screen. Although most vapers will be satisfied by the variable wattage controls, advanced users will enjoy the improved temperature control of the new chip. It’s a very smooth TC experience for a mid-priced device, and the stock and TCR settings are both user-friendly. The Cascade Baby SE bundled with the Polar Kit is a slightly more petite rendition of Vaporesso’s current flagship tank. The new GT Mesh coils continue to impress with their improved flavour, ramp-up time and longevity over round wire counterparts, saving you money on coils without sacrificing performance. The triple airflow control has no turbulence to speak of, but as with all mesh tanks, is a somewhat loud vape. Overall, the Polar Kit improves upon an already impressive platform and boasts fantastic performance, construction and ergonomics. VM18 | 179
