We spoke to Vapetrotter’s chief marketing officer David Boulton to learn
more about the company and its role within the global vape industry.
What is Vapetrotter?
D: The initial idea behind Vapetrotter
was to provide somewhere for travellers
to easily stay informed about the
whereabouts of stores around the world,
but most importantly what the laws were
wherever they were travelling. There
are over 20 million vapers estimated
throughout the world now, so that’s a
fairly large amount of people constantly
travelling around with their e-cigarettes.
These days with so many constant
changes in the legalities surrounding
vaping it was imperative that people
stayed up-to-date and safe, so we laid
out the laws for every country on earth
in an easy-to-read format.
These days the directory is the more
popular part of the website, and we now
list over 27,000 stores in 121 countries
where store owners can claim their
listings and update their information and
photos, and vapers have the freedom
to leave honest ratings and reviews,

which continues to make the platform
better for the community which is
fantastic. Around 700,000 people use
our site every month now from nearly
every country on earth, and that’s been
constantly growing since we launched.

found that people are also just using it
to find new stores around them.
Where do you get your listings

listings database of this nature? D: Gathering the initial database to
D: It started out as a place for travellers,
as people don’t simply stop vaping
when they go on holidays. When
someone takes a trip to Indonesia, for
example, it was never really an issue as
a smoker with cigarettes being available
everywhere you looked, but it was a bit
of a mystery as to where you could go
and buy some e-liquid, and whether the
store you find is reputable. There’s also
a lot of places around the world where
you can’t bring e-cigarette products
through customs, or use them in public,
launch the website was no easy task. It
took us eight months and a large portion
of our sanity to manually collect it. We
continue to add and remove stores
manually even today, but thankfully the
new platform allows store owners to list
and update their own now too, so that’s
definitely a big help in keeping it as
accurate as we can.
