NNA Chair Sarah Jakes takes on the author
of a new study on vaping and lung damage
The following debate took place on BBC Essex shortly after the release of a new study
which claims to link e-liquid condensates to lung damage. The exchange was hosted by
presenter Steve Scruton, who was sitting in the chair for Sadie Nine.
Sarah Jake’s position is that this study doesn’t reveal anything we didn’t already know. And if
vaping is 95 percent safer than smoking, this discovery may fall within the confines of
that five percent we don’t know much about. If vaping aids in getting people off smoking,
it’s fundamentally working. Harm reduction doesn’t guarantee harmlessness, and reduced
risk still has some risk.
