REVIEWS BY BENEDICT ‘NED’ JONES AK47 VG/PG ratio: 60/40 Additional sweetener: Minimal Throat hit: Mild, with cooling Purple Haze VG/PG ratio: 60/40 Additional sweetener: Minimal Throat hit: Mild, with cooling Heisen Bud VG/PG ratio: 60/40 Additional sweetener: Minimal Throat hit: Mild, with cooling AK47 is a full spectrum CBD offering from Peng Vapour Co. Full spectrum e-liquids incorporate a wider range of cannabinoids and terpenes from the hemp plant, imparting a more potent botanical flavour than their isolate counterparts. AK47 is both a popular shisha flavour profile and strain of the cannabis plant. It seems that this e-liquid emulates both. The top note here is a mellow aniseed paired with a dark fruit. It’s tough to pick out exactly what this fruit is, but to my palate it would appear to be a dark berry medley. This is a tried and tested combination that works well, though the aniseed will be divisive. The botanical elements are rich, earthy and slightly sour but are not as potent as some other full spectrum offerings. The mix is finished with a very subtle coolant. This is a very interesting CBD blend, ideal for full spectrum fans. Another from the full spectrum line by Peng Vapour Co. Purple Haze is a popular strain of the cannabis plant, known for its fruity terpenes, making it an ideal candidate for e-liquid formulation. The top note here is a bold blackcurrant, which brings a deep sweetness to the mix, without becoming too artificial. This is lifted by a moderately strong coolant, which is traditionally a solid pairing with dark fruit top notes. There seems to be mild hints of a shisha-like molasses flavour accenting the top notes, though this could simply be a by-product of the hemp terpenes. The botanical flavours are present here but not overbearing, adding a slight floral edge to the profile, along with some deeper earthy tones. Purple Haze is a competent and mellow CBD blend that should please many. The last of the Peng Vapour Co. full spectrum range that I have sampled for review. Unlike the others in this line, Heisen Bud does not seem to be trying to emulate the flavour profiles of any popular strains of hemp. Instead, we have a more traditional e-liquid profile combined with naturally occurring terpenes. The top notes will be familiar to any veteran vaper, an enigmatic mix of candied fruits and aniseed. This profile is tried and tested but remains to be one of the most divisive out there. If you weren’t already a Heisenberg fan, this one may not change your mind. Interestingly, I found the botanical elements to be more prominent in this blend than the others offered by Peng Vapour Co. The musky, slightly sour notes from the terpenes actually complement the fruity notes very well, and the mild menthol finish ensures a unique and satisfying CBD experience. One Up – Orgasm VG/PG ratio: 70/30 Additional sweetener: Minimal Throat hit: Mild Gold Series – Mango Magic VG/PG ratio: 70/30 Additional sweetener: Moderate Throat hit: Mild Bolt Series – Thirst VG/PG ratio: 70/30 Additional sweetener: Moderate Throat hit: Mild Premier Vaping describe Orgasm as a blend of watermelon and guava, with some mystery tropical undertones. A vivid sweet guava is the most prominent note here for me. It’s candied and sticky, but not overpowering by any means. I wouldn’t describe it as a natural guava, but this is no complaint, since the real fruit has a divisive profile and some very pungent earthy tones. The watermelon is more of an accent in my opinion. It’s mellow and plays off the brighter guava nicely, adding juiciness to the profile. There are some other tropical fruits in the mix too, but they are rather subtle. At a guess, these would include pineapple and mango, but due to their low concen- tration it’s hard to say for sure. Orgasm is a very well-balanced fruit blend, that avoids becoming overly sweet. Definite all-day vape material for fruit fans. Mango Magic is the simplest of the One Up e-liquids I’ve sampled for review. This is just a straight mango flavour, and this is quite a brave choice as mango is a very tough fruit to get right, especially when there are no complementary fruits or coolants to mask any off notes that can sometimes crop up. This is one of the best single flavour mango e-liquids I’ve had the pleasure of vaping. Rather than a candied mango, reminiscent of mango soda, this is a natural representation. It’s ripe, earthy and mildly creamy, spot on to the real thing, albeit a tad sweeter. There’s not much else to say about this, if you’re on the hunt for a full-bodied natural mango e-liquid, this could be the one. One Up Vapor describe Thirst as a blend of mango, pineapple and guava. One the face of it, this seems fairly similar to Orgasm, but in practice it’s actually quite distinct. A sweet, sticky pineapple is the top note here. It’s more towards the candied pineapple you’d expect from a beverage, but does retain some of the tartness found in the real fruit. This is supported by a guava similar to the one found in Orgasm, albeit with less intensity. It provides that same thick body and sweetness but plays a more secondary role, adding depth to the mix. Thirst is rounded off with a sweet ripened mango accent, which certainly turns the brightness of the profile up a few notches, without becoming overbearingly sweet. Thirst is another well-balanced tropical mix from One Up, but a touch heavier than Orgasm. 148 | THE VAPER EXPO
