REVIEWS BY BENEDICT ‘NED’ JONES Creamy Vanilla Custard VG/PG ratio: 70/30 Additional sweetener: Minimal Throat hit: Mild Twisted VG/PG ratio: 70/30 Additional sweetener: Minimal Throat hit: Mild, with cooling Unicorn Tears VG/PG ratio: 70/30 Additional sweetener: Minimal Throat hit: Mild Vanilla custard has become the standard bearer of the desserts in the e-liquid world. There’s an endless number of different spins on this creamy treat, and Rejuiced have chosen to take the traditional route here. A warm and rich vanilla is the top note. It’s more towards the confectionery end of the spectrum, lacking the dark or spiced notes of a more natural vanilla extract. This is no complaint though, since the vanilla here provides just the right amount of sweetness to the mix. This top note is backed up by a decadent custard base, which really amplifies the body and mouthfeel of the profile and plays nicely with the vanilla. There’s a subtle hint of some egg and dairy notes which only adds to the authenticity of the flavour. This is a very solid custard blend that old school vapers will love. A slightly more complex profile from the Rejuiced line. Twisted is billed as a blend of lime, strawberry and vanilla ice cream with a cooling finish. Lime is the top note here and it’s very forward in the mix. It’s certainly a sweet candy lime rather than a more natural representation, but this is to be expected within the context of the profile. A candy strawberry does some work to bolster the sweetness of the bright top notes but could perhaps do with being slightly more prominent. The vanilla cream base supports the fruits by adding substance to the mouthfeel and rounding out some of the lime’s astringency. This cream element is again lower in the mix than I would prefer but that will be dependent on taste. The coolant finish is mellow and doesn’t interfere with the flavour whatsoever. Overall this is a solid blend, but be warned, that lime is potent. Described as a blend of strawberry, custard, cheesecake and dairy, Unicorn Tears is an ambitious dessert profile that could easily overwhelm the palate if not balanced correctly. The top note here is a mellow strawberry that straddles the line between candy and a more natural representation. It doesn’t dominate the mix by any means, but is quite present nonetheless. This is supported by a thick medley of vanilla creams which lend a lot of body to the mix, along with a luxurious mouthfeel. I can’t really pick out a distinct custard and feel that this is likely due to the volume of other cream elements involved. The profile is rounded out with a crisp biscuit accent which ties the layers together very nicely and adds some texture to the profile. Unicorn Tears is a well-balanced blend that many dessert fans will enjoy. Strawberry Slush VG/PG ratio: 70/30 Additional sweetener: Minimal Throat hit: Mild, with cooling Big Mama’s Milk VG/PG ratio: 70/30 Additional sweetener: Minimal Throat hit: Mild Strawberry Jam VG/PG ratio: 70/30 Additional sweetener: Minimal Throat hit: Mild Strawberry Slush is a more stripped back blend from the Rejuiced line. This is an homage to a nostalgic icy treat and what it lacks in complexity, it makes up for with solid execution. A dense, syrupy candied strawberry is the star of the show here. It’s bright and has plenty of the tartness one would expect from a true strawberry slush. The mix clearly doesn’t aim for a natural representation of the fruit and this could hardly be expected given the context, so you won’t find any of the deeper, earthy strawberry notes here. This vivid top note is complemented well by a moderately strong coolant finish. It doesn’t interfere with the flavour profile at all but does a great job of replicating the sensation of an ice-cold slush drink. Strawberry Slush is a solid option for vapers who prefer simpler blends. Billed as a blend of four creams with a hint of strawberry, Big Mama’s Milk can hardly be described as an adventurous profile, but if balanced properly it has a good chance of being a crowd pleaser. Contrary to the manufacturer’s description, I feel that the strawberry is quite forward here. It’s more in line with what you might expect from a candy strawberry, carrying plenty of sweetness and some more subtle bright notes, but it still avoids dominating the profile. This top note is supported by a heavy vanilla cream medley. It’s pretty much impossible to pick them out individually, and I certainly can’t verify if there are four distinct creams from taste alone, but the result is a satisfyingly thick mouthfeel and a pleasant confectionary vanilla note. Big Mama’s Milk is a simple but well mixed e-liquid that should please fans of mellow dessert profiles. The final e-liquid from Rejuiced is arguably the simplest of the lot. This is a single flavour profile, so there’s no way to hide poor ingredient choices here. This is a potent, sweet strawberry that clearly doesn’t aim for subtlety or nuance. It’s a lot more candied than I was expecting from the description, with a good helping of sweetness and some hints of more tart notes. It’s lacking the slightly earthy, more natural flavour of a true strawberry jam and this could be forgiven if this blend had some of the syrup-like body of a more commercialised jam, but this isn’t present either. The result is a very solid, if simple, strawberry candy profile but I do not feel that it really captures the deeper tones found in an authentic strawberry jam. 132 | THE VAPER EXPO
