VAPER EXPO THREE YEARS OF LAUGHS, THRILLS AND TRIUMPHS AT THE NEC As we make memories and reach milestones this weekend, it’s important to remind ourselves of all the good times this event has given us. The vaping industry’s present moment is booming, and the future is bright. But nostalgia is also ‘in’ right now. With three years and seven shows on the record, let’s look back at The Vaper Expo UK’s greatest hits. Double Drip’s Titanic outing If you’re choosing the Vaper Expo as a launch pad for something new, you’d better make a statement. Double Drip burst onto the vape scene at the October 2016 expo. In May 2018 they stole the show with Titan – an eight-foot-tall robot, which entertained guests for hours with songs and jokes. Titan’s outing raised the bar for the art of the vape show exhibit. Naturally, Double Drip took the Vaper Expo Award for Stand of the Show. All about the advocates May 2017 was the first expo under the Tobacco Products Directive, and a place where the New Nicotine Alliance reminded us of the importance of advocacy and activism. Rousing speeches from Dave Dorn provided great motivation for consumers and businesses about coming challenges. This also saw the first expo appearance for the IBVTA, who have become synonymous with protecting the vaping industry in the UK. To this day, the vape trade relies on these dedicated people representing our interests and fighting our corner. Front Line frights You can expect a lot of things at a massive consumer and B2B vape show at the NEC, but even the most imaginative of us don’t think we’ll experience the thrilling scares normally reserved for theme parks and horror films. In addition to its excellent juice range, the Front Line Liquids stand took immersive branding to another level last October. The company’s military-themes were on full display, with costumed soldiers and a haunted bunker weaving a chilling mystery for visitors to enjoy. Celebrity The Vaper Expo has become the perfect place for celebrity juice launches. In May 2016 we met Mungo Jerry frontman Ray Dorset as he launched the Mungo Cherry Vape Juice Line via Juice E Fruit. This May saw rapper and entrepreneur Professor Green arrive to an adoring crowd, introducing vapers and businesses to UNRULY E-Liquid and sitting down with Vapouround for an exclusive interview about this exciting new venture in his career. The Vapouround Awards reach new heights Far from the standard awards ceremony – even in the flamboyant vape trade during its hottest season – this night in May saw entertainment including another dazzling display of tricks from superstar magician Nick Einhorn and a brilliant stand up set and after dinner speaker Ian Irving. Among 450 esteemed guests, an industry in its prime deserved our full attention, making this the busiest and most elaborate Vapouround Awards yet. THE VAPER EXPO | 115
