EVENTS BY DAVID TURNER MIDDLE EAST VAPE SHOW (MEVS), JANUARY 17-19, BAHRAIN One day – more for my interest than anything else – I might sit down and work out just how many miles I’ve travelled around the world visiting vape expos. I’m sure it will be a pretty crazy number. For this show the most important miles were not the amount I travelled personally but the extra ones the event organisers went to in terms of making this event not just good – but great. Held at the Bahrain International Circuit, the event was scheduled for mid-January. Anybody who exhibited or attended will know that due to unforeseen circumstances the first day was unable to take place. For those of you who don’t know, the unforeseen circumstances were something most expo organisers wouldn’t have to worry about – a sandstorm. It was the first sandstorm I’d witnessed first- hand and it was eerie to say the least. Undeterred, the show did go ahead on the Friday and Saturday and both a very productive very enjoyable days were had by all. It was great to catch up with Stuart and the Red Box team and as ever, it’s always a pleasure to see expo regulars such as IVG and Chubby Gorilla in attendance as well as getting the opportunity to meet some new companies from the Middle East region. Alongside some high-level entertainment arranged by the organisers on the stage, in particular Flipperachi and Daffy with DJ Outlaw, it made for a thoroughly enjoyable time on all levels. I’d particularly like to thank both Khalid and Ali for the efforts they went to – not just for the expo itself but for our party personally – it made the whole trip one we will all look back on fondly. If you didn’t attend, then I’d highly recommend that you add 138 | VM21 this event to your calendar. Despite the best attempts of Mother Nature and the sandstorm, it’s a fantastic part of the vaping calendar and one which I see going from strength to strength.
