started and where it is now

discuss what’s new, what’s changed,
and most importantly, how Laura is
running her company.
VM: How did Flavor Monster begin?
FM: We started Flavor Monster in
2015 working out of a small, borrowed
10’x10’ lab. Jarod, my business partner,
was working 14+ hour days building
our website, managing our sales and
marketing and customer service and
manually dropping off all of our orders.
He would stand in line at the post office
with anywhere from 5-10 packages
thinking “Wow, we had such a great
sales day!” Meanwhile, I was in the lab
from sunrise to sunset mixing bottles,
packaging and managing our inventory.
At first I used to mix each bottle to order.
We started this business with just a
$1,000 cash investment, no credit cards,
no loans, no investors, and we grew
it through hard work, sweat and tears.
About two months into Flavor Monster,
we were averaging about 15 orders per
day, which at the time seemed unreal
and overwhelming.
Fast forward one year and we now pump

out tens of thousands of bottles a month
and Jarod no longer has to st
