NEWS DON’T TRY THIS AT HOME American YouTuber Films Himself Vaping World’s Hottest Chilli Pepper Vape fan Russell Hawkins is passionate about two things in life… his vaping and his love for super hot chilli peppers. They are two passions he managed to share side by side until one day he had a brilliant (or perhaps not so brilliant) idea and decided to combine the two. American Russell wondered what it would be like to vape the world’s hottest chilli so he embarked on a little experiment and shared the results with his YouTube subscribers. He decided to use the Carolina Reaper chilli as his new vape flavour - the variety which is regarded as the world’s hottest chilli pepper scoring a massive 2.2 million units on the Scoville scale of chilli hotness. If 2.2 million Scovilles sounds hot then it is. By way of comparison a standard Jalapeño chille comes in at around 2,500 Scoville units. The stunt that Russell did has been likened to drinking liquid pepper spray and that is also something that you really shouldn’t do at home, or anywhere else for that matter. Russell first dried the the chilli and then 20 ISSUE 06 VAPOUROUND MAGAZINE ground it down into a fine powder which he added to a chocolate coffee flavoured vape juice and allowed the mixture to steep for three weeks. He said: “I like to have a coffee every morning with some Carolina Reaper added to it for a bit of a kick and this is my morning coffee every day. “I figured that as I already had this chocolate cappuccino flavour e-liquid then it would be ideal to add some Carolina Reaper to it so I ground it down into a really fine powder and took it from there.” After he had done steeping the liquid to ensure the chilli was well and truly infused into the juice, he dripped it onto a Sigelei 150 watt box mod and vaped it at 80 watts. As he dropped the fiery liquid onto his wick he warned viewers not to copy his stunt and then looked worried as he prepared to vape the liquid. At one stage it looked as though he might back down but he quickly took a large lung full of the home-made e-liquid and waited for the effects to kick in. He did not have to wait long at all. Almost immediately he was coughing and spluttering and then shortly afterwards he was violently sick into a bucket. Russell said between coughs: “Oh God, Oh God. My lungs are on fire.” Amazingly he then decided to snort some of the red hot powder as his next trick with predictable results. This time he told viewers: “Oh my God. My nose is on fire.” He reported that the stunts had made him violently sick for ten minutes and said he was thankful that he did not need to call for paramedics after the fiery hits. It does not look like this will be Russell’s new all day vape and he doesn’t think it should be yours either. His final words of warning were: “Once again, don’t try this bullshit at home. Don’t do this. Don’t do it at all. It’s not good. I didn’t need 911, but definitely don’t ever try to vape anything hot, especially the world’s hottest pepper.” Having seen the video I think it fair to say that this is one flavour which is unlikely to catch on any time soon.
