REVIEWS Austrian company Von Erl have developed a new cartridge based vaping system that I think would work nicely at introducing people to vaping as well as helping people to get off of cigarettes. The device i'm testing today is the Von Erl MY. It's a cigalike that's small and sleek enough to fit most peoples needs. It's made predominantly of plastic so I would question the longevity of the device, it also feels quite flimsy so I'd definitely be careful with it. It's a very simple device, no buttons, no screens, just the device. It has a charging port on the bottom that works with mini usb, and a port at the top, for cartridges. As for the cartridges they come pre-filled and just slot straight in, when they're finished you simply throw them away. To vape on this device you simply inhale, there's no firing button, just a light that turns green to let you know you're vaping. It's a really simple and Zombie Squash Zombie Squash is a range of affordable, yet high quality E-liquids, developed and manufactured by UK juice company Z-Squad. Z-Squad create all of their juices using high quality flavourings and nicotine within a clean room, and each batch is numbered with an expiry date to ensure that each juice meets their high standards. I'm reviewing their Zombie Squash collection, a range of four E-liquids, all with strong, unique flavours. Monkey Puff Monkey Puff is a fruity concoction, combining berries and apples with loads of different tropical fruits. There's a lot going on in this juice and it's hard to pick out the individual flavours but the overall taste is a nice and sweet cocktail. I personally just wish each of the fruit flavours were distinct and blended a little better. easy device to use and I think it would be perfect for absolute beginners to vaping but beyond that you probably want to look for something more advanced. An issue I found is that you often have to inhale really hard to get it to register you're trying to vape. I often found myself with a bit of a headache as I'm used to the amount of airflow found on sub ohm tanks and drippers. The main downside here is that you are limited to only using the Von Erl E-liquid cartridges and I personally wasn't a huge fan of the flavours I received. Ginseng Ginger Probably the nicest flavour I tried, just a nice subtle ginger flavour. Not alot else going on here but pleasant enough to vape. Cherry Quite nice and fruity but nothing compared to the fruit flavours you could vape with a device not locked to Von Erl's cartridges. To sum up this is a good device for beginners and I think the idea of cartridges is a good one. If Von Erl can improve their flavours and build quality I think the Von Erl MY would be one of the top starter kits on the market. As it stands however it's a decent kit but I only reccomend it to the absolute newbies, trying to get off of smoking and in to the world of vaping. You probably won't find an easier to use device on the market. 3/5 Tobacco Standard tobacco flavour, not bad but unfortunately 18mg strength that made me feel quite sick. Menthol Tobacco Again not a bad flavour but high strength so I struggled with it. Hellbender Hellbender is another juice with a lot of different flavours contributing to the overall vape. It's an ultra cooling blend of strong menthol, with liquorice and aniseed as well as a subtle fruit flavour. I think Hellbender might be a bit too much for a lot of people's tastes but I enjoyed it quite a bit. It's definitely a refreshing pallette cleanser, really good at eliminating vaper's tongue. Shaven Haven This juice is a little simpler, it's basically a strawberry custard vape at heart. The strawberry flavour is decent, more sugary than most and a little artificial tasting but a good partner for the creamy custard. It's worth mentioning how smooth this E-liquid is, even with it's 60/40 VG/PG ratio it's very easy to vape. The custard flavour is very pleasant, just the right amount of sweetness and creaminess. Overall a very vapeable juice that I'd like to try again. the room to see what landed in the mixer. There is so much going on in Rick's Mix it's hard to pick out individual flavours but there's fruit, there's menthol, there's hints of aniseed and other spices, it's slightly creamy, it's sweet, it's sour, it's everything. More importantly it tastes really nice, I'm not sure you'll find anything else like Rick's Mix on the market so on that merit alone, you have to try it. 4/5 Rick's Mix Last up from Zombie Squash is Rick's Mix, a real cacophony of flavour. I imagine Z-squad creating this juice at midnight, in a laboratory, all maniacally laughing and throwing flavours across VAPOUROUND MAGAZINE ISSUE 06 155
