DON ’ T BE JAILBAIT !

The TPD has finally arrived so it ’ s time to face up to the harsh reality that non-compliance could earn you a criminal conviction and up to two years in jail .
Here are 7 tips on staying TPD compliant while standing out from the crowd with your e-liquid labelling
The smaller bottles = smaller labels conundrum
The TPD states e-juice cannot be sold in bottles greater than 10ml . If you are concerned about how the increased product information and warnings will fit onto a 5ml or 10ml bottle label , then worry no longer !
A multi-layer label can accommodate the extra information required to comply with the new regulations . Also known as Peel and Reveal or Peel and Read labels they are the perfect solution for tiny plastic or glass e-juice bottles .
The beauty of the Peel and Reveal label is that you can keep the label the same size yet increase the information provided by using extra layers of paper .
Mix it up
Compliance is not necessarily synonymous with boring . You can still be different with your packaging and stay compliant . Using foil , holographic materials , transparent films or semi-gloss vinyl for your labels can really spice up your e-liquid bottles . Spot varnish or embossing can make your brand and logo stand out on a crowded shelf while specialised inks add extra sparkle and shine .
Worry free dripping
Just one or two splashes of e-juice and the label becomes illegible while compliance goes out of the window .
Choose indelible ink to ensure the labels are durable and have the capability to withstand spills and scratches .
Here comes the sun
We all live in hope that the hazy days of summer are just around the corner but an increase in temperature and humidity can present an extra challenge for your e-juice bottle labels .
A high quality label will possess strong adhesive qualities and be able to survive whatever the holiday season has to offer .
Sheets or rolls ?
If you are using an automated filling and packing system having your printed labels on rolls will probably be the most suitable solution .
For those crafting artisan e-liquids or suppliers specialising in limited editions in smaller quantities sheets of labels may be more appropriate for your needs .
Traceability doesn ’ t have to be tiresome
Ensuring batch numbers and production dates are printed clearly and accurately onto e-juice labels can be tiresome . The quick and simple route to printing variable data is to purchase a small thermal transfer printer and overprint the required information on your existing labels .
Alternatively have your label supplier print the variable data when they print your labels . You simply apply the printed label – job done .
Forget the Bermuda Triangle
Are you concerned about how to comply with ISO / BS11683 ? The Tactile Warning Triangle label is the answer – guaranteed to make your concerns disappear .
Choose to use rolls of clear tactile warning triangle labels which are applied to your existing labels or have the warning triangles integrated directly into your existing label design when they are printed .
