As the oldest contributor to Vanish Magazine I very often seem to receive the task of writing memorials and obituaries as magicians leave us. I am frequently amazed at how many years I have known these figures and participants in the magic scene. In my own mind I started to think of an idea that might be fresher and more meaningful in its approach to remembering Eugene. I did come up with one idea that seemed like a brain- 54 VANISH Magazine storm. I decided to use the MAGIC LIVE convention to collect some personal memories about Eugene. My idea was to use the convention and Vanish to create a multi-voiced “Live Tribute.” I wanted to have everyone who wished to participate hand write a single sen- tence on an index card and then build them into the graphics on the article.
