Ball Seats for High Pressure Ball Valves
Ball Seat Options for HP Ball Valves
POM - (Polyoxymethylene) AKA: DELRIN, Polyacetal or Polyformaldehyde
A highly crystalline thermoplastic with special importance as a technical plastic. POM
combines a high level of hardness and form stability with a high resistance to impact. It is
highly suitable and used in precision parts requiring high stiffness and low friction for the
construction of precision machinery and apparatus. It provides excellent stability and has
remarkable sliding properties. Resistant to most solvents and hydrous alkalis.
Unsuitable for acids.

PA612 - (Polyamide) AKA: NYLON - common trade names include Ultramid & Zytel.
(PA612 is a standard ball seat)
Polyamides are well proven engineering polymers with very interesting properties at a
favorable price. They are characterized by high mechanical stability values combined with
excellent impact strength. They have an above average wear rate. The different types of
polyamides are distinguished by an international identification system based on the number
of carbon atoms per monometer.

PEEK - (Polyether etherketone) colorless organic polymer thermoplastic
PEEK is a semicrystalline thermoplastic with excellent mechanical and chemical resistance
properties that are retained to high temperatures. Thermoplastic is a polymer that turns to a
liquid when heated and freezes to a very glassy state when cooled sufficiently. PEEK has a
glass transition temperature at around 289ºF and melts around 650ºF. It is highly resistant to
thermal degradation as well as attack by both organic and aqueous environments. Semi-finished products are based on polyether etherketone as the raw material, a linear, aromatic
polmer. It is an ideal material for applications where high performance is demanded under
extreme conditions with regard to temperature, chemicals, high powered radiation and
nonflammable, etc..
Temperature Rating: Celsius: -50º to +250º Fahrenheit: -58º to +482º

RPTFE - (Polytetrafluoroethylene) AKA: TEFLON
Above the melting point of 620ºF, RPTFE changes into a gel-like state. Its high viscosity
excludes the possibility of thermal methods, such injection moulding and screw extrusion.
RPTFE is cold extruded and subsequently sintered. Due to its unique combination of oustanding characteristics, RPTFE can be called an engineered polymer of oustanding quality.
RPTFE is used as a non-stick coating for pans and other cookware. It is very non-reactive,
partly because of the strength of carbon-fluorine bonds, and so it is often used in containers
and pipe-work for reactive and corrosive chemicals. Where used as a lubricant, RPTFE
reduces friction, wear, and energy consumption of machinery.
Temperature Rating: Celsius: -220º to 230º Fahrenheit: -364º to 446º

GEMPTFE - Gemels Manufactured Metal Seal with Teflon Cover
The GEMPTFE is a metal ring covered in RPTFE. GEMPTFE keeps the same oustanding fore-mentioned characteristics of the RPTFE. Futhermore, it has better resistance to
deformation under load and pressure due to the metal ring inside the seal. Resistant to all
chemicals the seals above withstand and possibility for use with high pressure applications.
