Valley View Choir

Mrs. Brinkle has been valley view choir teacher for years. She has put a lot of time and effort into every single one of her choir kids. We got a glimpse of what choir really is for the students here

at valley view, and how our choir teacher and

intern chose the path they went down. It was

interesting to see how the class as a whole

worked together to sing, and we even got the

opportunity to see them perform. It was quite

surprising how there voices went together so

smoothly, and we aren’t the only ones who

thought so either. The choir competed in CPA,

where they received all ones. For them to

receive the best score there is proves what

Mrs. Brinkle is doing in and out of the

classroom.

Debate

Team

The debate team meets every Wednesday right after school. Ms. Nicole Johnson is the teacher sponsor. Debate team is a laid back and easy-going club who makes sure to have fun when they meet on Wednesday afternoons. They work hard for the debates that they attend. Taylor Martin, the debate club president, is kind and seems to run things well. There is an upcoming debate in March that they have been practicing for every week. They have been sparring each week for the debate. They have been working towards using the IPDA debate style instead of what they have been using which was ethics. IPDA, or International Public Debate Association, is the common debate style that many teams use. A debate team enters a debate not knowing what the debate is going to be about, when they show up they are told what they will be debating about, then they are given a thirty minute period of time to research their topic and then start the debate. Debate topics can be very random and sometimes amusing. For instance there was once our Debate team had to debate which was better, pancakes or waffles, so sometimes they can be amusing. This past meeting, they had debated whether or not stop sign should be red. The video attached this page is the debate recorded. It shows that things can be laid back and fun while in a debate. In this debate they did not have any research time and you can see that they are having fun with this debate. So support your school’s debate team, they are accepting new members every week and have an upcoming debate in March, so join them on Wednesday and help our school rise to the top.
