BEHIND THE SCENES OF THE CTE AUCTION

The Career and Technical Education Program hosts their annual silent and live auction around January or February in hopes of raising money for the each of the following clubs and classes: EAST, HOSA, FCCLA, and FFA. The money earned from the auction will be evenly distributed between the four groups for in class supplies and, or equipment. The students in each program help supply auction items or volunteer their time to help set up, clean, and maintain the auction.

EAST or Environmental and Spatial Technology is usually in charge of promoting the CTE event in many ways. Every year EAST has the task of making posters to showcase the auction and we post them all over the different school buildings as well as on the schools social media pages. This year EAST went further with their technological and promotional skills to make a commercial type video to showcase what each club and organization do in their day-to-day life in the classroom.

HOSA or Health

Occupation for students of America

are usually always the ones who

man down the organization of the

silent auction portion of the night.

Although every club and

organization bring in items for the

silent auction, HOSA takes on the

task of putting the items all in

different categories and making up

the master list as well as the bid

sheets for each individual item.

FCCLA also known as Family,

Career, and Community Leaders of America, are in charge of making the desserts for the CTE auction as well as collecting donations that are to be auctioned off in the silent auction. These funds are used in allowing students to attend national conventions and state conferences.

FFA also known as, Future Farmers of America are in charge of cooking the main portion of food for the auction. FFA makes items to auction off at the live auction portion of the night, this year they made a 14 foot utility trailer, a sled blind, and a University of Arkansas Razorback metal art piece created using their new plasma cutter. They are the organization who is mainly in charge of the live auction and working that part of the event.

The four clubs came together for one amazing night to raise money to help them buy equipment and supplies that they need to complete projects and craft items. The ending profit was $25,110.50 which is slightly over the amount earned last year. The money will be evenly distributed between the four organizations: EAST, HOSA, FCCLA, and FFA giving each of them about $6,200.
