NONPROFITS
PROVIDING UNIQUE OPPORTUNITIES FOR
COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT AND ENRICHMENT
A
ccording to the Minnesota
Council of Nonprofits, “Nonprofit
organizations promote the health
and well-being of society. Organizations
provide people in all communities around
the state with services and assistance to
help meet needs unmet by government
and the for-profit sector. Nonprofits are
also an important part of the economy,
employing one out of every nine workers
in the state. Nonprofit organizations are
known for their contributions to their
communities, focusing on volunteerism
and making a difference.”
LIONS CLUB AND
FOUNDATION – FREE
VISION SCREENING FOR
CHILDREN, APRIL 8
The Vadnais Heights Lions through the
Lions KidSight program will provide free
vision screening for children six months to
six years, at our Spring Waffle Breakfast
at Vadnais Heights Commons on April
8. Because 80 percent of all learning is
visual, we want all kids to have the best
vision possible. Caring for Vision has
been a part of Lions Clubs International’s
mission since its beginning and continues
today. The relationship started in 1925
when Helen Keller asked Lions to be
Knights for the Blind in this crusade
against darkness.
Celebrating 100 Years of Service!
Lions Clubs International is the largest
service club organization in the world,
with 1.45 million members serving
communities in more than 208 countries.
As we enter our second century of
service, we’ll continue to focus on Vision
Care, Diabetes Education, Hunger Relief,
Protecting the Environment and Engaging
our Youth. The Vadnais Heights Lions,
founded in 1980, manages and funds
the Vadnais Heights Food Shelf. Other
signature events include: Heritage Days
activities, bi-annual Waffle Breakfasts and
Annual Golf Tournament. Proceeds from
these community events benefit our youth
and elderly and others that are in need.
Please mail your tax-deductible donations
to the following address and/or consider
volunteering your time at the Food Shelf
or one of our other fun events. Your
contributions are always welcome!

learn about topics that help make our
community a great place to live, learn and
do business.
