HONOR THE EARTH (USA) creates awareness and provides support for Native environmental issues and develops needed financial and political resources for the survival of sustainable Native communities. Honor the Earth develops these resources by using music, the arts, the media, and Indigenous wisdom to ask people to recognize our joint dependency on the Earth and be a voice for those not heard. Honor the Earth has launched a new initiative on Indigenous Women’s Leadership focused on sustainable development, energy policy, restoring traditional economies, and community organizing. In addition to the ongoing work around eradicating sexual violence in extraction zones, and fighting dangerous oil pipelines, fracking and coal operations that Honor the Earth remains committed to, this new effort aims to empower, mentor, and grow women’s leadership in Indigenous communities. Activities include trainings in energy policy, community organizing, and strategic decision-making, on-the-job training, non-violent direct actions and more.
