In the year 2014 that was announced in Uzbekistan as the Year of Healthy Child, the scale of these works expanded even more. The implementation of the National Program adopted in connection with that helped boost the medical culture of the population, effectiveness of diseases prophylaxis, affirmation of the healthy lifestyle and the dynamic development of sports. The resolution of the President of Uzbekistan “On the National Program to Further Boost the Reproductive Health of the Population, Protect the Health of Mothers, Children and Teenagers in Uzbekistan for 2014-2018”, signed 1 August 2014, has stimulated the enhancement of opportunities for the physical and spiritual development of our children and the further perfection of the youth policy. As logic continuation of activities in previous years, by the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov 2016 was announced as the “Year of Healthy Mother and Child”. It is obvious that the issue of mother and child is always in the center of attention of the Government of Uzbekistan because healthy family is the basis for the long-term sustainable development of any country. The announcement of 2016 as the “Year of a healthy mother and child” and the approval of the State Program on 9th February 2016 is a logical continuation of a large-scale activities being carried out in Uzbekistan in the social sphere. The State Program envisages implementation of a number of specific practical measures aimed at improving the protection of family, motherhood and childhood, rising of healthy and harmoniously developed generation, strengthening the cooperation of public authorities and civil society organizations. In 2016 the work on creation the necessary social, household and medical conditions for people living in remote rural areas, especially women, will be continued. It is foreseen to construct modern standard residential houses, social infrastructure facilities, improve the access of the rural population to drinking water, natural gas and quality services. State Program includes also the construction of 13 000 individual standard houses in rural areas in all regions of Uzbekistan. It is planned to open 194 model complexes of consumer services in the remote villages of Uzbekistan with beauty salons, fashion studios, small electrical appliances reparation services and so on. Bank loans and land will be allocated for these purposes. The particular importance is given to the construction of a modern children’s clinic of highest 4th level in Tashkent for 4 280 patients, 250 visits per day and 1500 surgeries per year. There will be installed the most updated medical equipment to improve the quality of skilled high-tech medical care for mothers and children in the sphere of cardiac surgery, neurosurgery, urology, nephrology, oncology and other areas. In 2016 will start the construction of the Women’s Health Center in Tashkent with the most advanced diagnostic and therapeutic equipment. The material and technical base of pediatric and obstetric institutions, including the Republican Perinatal Center, regional perinatal centers and branches of the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center of Obstetrics and Gynecology will be enhanced. The further expansion of the activities of the Republican Center for Social Adaptation of Children will be continued. In particular, during the 2016-2018 it is planned to open 11 additional regional branches of the Centre. The State program also sets out a broad popularization of physical culture and sport, especially among girls in rural areas, construction of new and providing material and technical support to the existing sports facilities, installation of modern sport equipment, staffing of qualified coaches. The construction of an additional 1700 gyms for elementary schools is planned, including 217 - in 2016. There will be also constructed special children’s sports schools (225 in total), including 15 - in 2016.
