"I was originally a Marketing major at Utah State University. After my freshman year at USU, I interned for Congressman Rob Bishop in Washington, D.C. for a semester. While I was there, I met Taylor Lundell, a fellow Aggie and new friend. Right after D.C. I left to Paris, France to serve an LDS mission. Upon returning from France, I found myself feeling like I needed to transfer to Utah Valley University and change my major to Communication, Public Relations. During my second week at UVU, I ran into Taylor in the library - I had no clue she had transferred too. She asked me to be on her editorial committee of PRSSA. I had no idea what PRSSA was, nor what I was getting myself into but I am so glad that I went for it.

It sounds super cliche, but joining PRSSA helped me find my niche at UVU. I found friends that are people-people. Involvement in the editorial committee gave me opportunities to write press releases and PR news stories, hands-on learning to build my experience. Taylor encouraged me to run for the executive board for her position as VP of PR and I was elected! From there, I was given the opportunity to represent UVU at the PRSSA National Assembly in Seattle.
