The new year is swiftly approaching, and with it comes a vast change in PR tactics and strategies. PR used to be focused on creating and maintaining a brand’s reputation through exposure and buzz. Nowadays you have to market specific content to specific people to be effective. To best prepare you and your team for the PR industry in 2017, keep your eye on the following trends:

1. Earn media do not buy media

PR efforts are extremely important to

marketers, crafting specific and

successful messages highlighting the

company’s recent achievements will

allow marketers to boost the content

through spend and ad buys. Having a

cohesive team of marketers and PR

professionals working to promote

“earned” media through company

achievement will more successfully

get the right eyes on the right message instead of buying attention.

2. PR needs to get creative and efficient

No longer will a traditional press release cut it in today’s media market. With an increased number of contributors and messages competing for the consumer’s eye, PR professionals have to be creative and timely. Tailoring messages that are catchy, engaging and released appropriately to the time it is occurring will increase the effectiveness of your message and likelihood to be published.

3. Get social

Engage, promote and reach out through multiple channels of media to reach several different types of individuals in your chosen audience. PR professionals that modify messages to promote on specific media channels will allow themselves to market content their audience will more likely digest and engage in due to ease and accessibility.
