Haywood County Quick Guide to Family and Consumer Sciences Programming “Haywood’s Got Talent” Show is April 28! Please join us as our 2012 contestants showcase their talent and compete for prizes and the chance to take the stage at several big events, including the Hatchie Fall Fest! The show is at the Ann Marks Theater at College Hill on Saturday, April 28 at 2 pm. Doors open at 1 pm. Admission prices are $5 for adults, $3 for students, and free for children under age 5. Tickets will be available at the door. Our special guest host is Willie Wallace of Nashville, Tennessee- an international basketball star. The audience will be treated to a special performance from Clifton Smith, the winner of Haywood’s Got Talent 2011. We will also be recognizing the 4th grade class from East Side who has logged the most physical activity during the past eight weeks of the “Walk Across Tennessee” competition. You don’t want to miss this afternoon full of family fun! This program is presented as part of the I Promise to Strive for a Bright Future initiative. “Girl Talk” Returns in June If you have a daughter age 9-12, “Girl Talk” is the program for her! This class brings moms and daughters together to discuss body changes, sexuality, decision- making, and family values in a fun, interactive way. The class will meet on Mondays in June at 6 pm at the UT/TSU Extension Office in Brownsville. The first session (June 4) is for Moms only. The daughters join the class for the remaining three sessions. The cost is $25 per mother/daughter pair and includes all activities and materials, snacks, and door prizes. Space is limited. Call 772-2861 to sign up. The Summer Celebration Lawn & Garden Show is July 12 Presentations, vendors, good food, and tours are all part of this annual event. Make plans to journey to the UT Research & Education Center, located at 605 Airways Blvd. in Jackson, on Thursday, July 12. The fun begins at 10 am. The admission price is $5 for adults; children under 18 are admitted free. Be sure to stop by the kitchen and sample what Tennille and her fellow “UT Kitchen Divas” are cooking!
