Tips for a Successful Recruitment

Take notes after each event; write down names of women you met and anything else that might help you remember the sorority. These notes will help you in decision-making.

Be courteous and polite, ask questions and show interest. If you are not interested, you should still be positive and thank your hostess.

Consider each sorority as a whole – don’t judge a chapter based on any one woman you meet.

Be mature in your decision-making – be true to the members that make you feel the most comfortable.

This is a mutual selection process; you are selecting a sorority and the sorority is also selecting you. Much like a job interview, make sure you make a good impression and also leave each event with the information needed to make your decisions.

Do not interpret ANY remark at an event as an assurance of an invitation to another round of events or an invitation to join the sorority. An individual member has NO way of knowing whether you will receive an invitation.

If you go to the wrong event by mistake, or have any challenges during Recruitment, find a Sigma Rho Chi immediately. Don’t get upset – people will understand.

All sorority members have been through Recruitment themselves, and they will do their best to make you feel comfortable. Keep in mind that the sorority members may be just as anxious and nervous as you are.

Discuss your feelings about sororities or events when you are in the privacy of your room or privately with your Sigma Rho Chi to avoid hurt feelings.

Smile! Be yourself and enjoy the events; Recruitment can be a lot of fun!
