Productive Garden
“An adaptable space to socialise and relax with fresh vegtables and fruit to eat”
To look at redundant office filing
cabinets, to create something new
with a business incentive that has
social, and environmental benefits.
I will be reusing redundant office
furniture to reduce waste build
up in landfills to save energy and
reduce pollution levels.The idea
will save money and gain profit in
businesses who spend a great
portion of finance in refurbishing
offices.

I would like to design for various
demographics of users. Although
students and working class are
the people who are regularly using
office spaces and will benefit the
most from the development of the
design during their breaktime at
work and studies.
I will be using redundant office
filing cabinets to create a new way
of growing crops and providing
people with a space to relax and
eat. From my research I found, the
filing cabinets are one of the main
products that are regularly used
and replaced in most office based
industries. Although, today in the
21st century world they are not
appreciated as much because of
technological advances such as
microsoft office programs.
I will be considering how the
financial office places such as
RBS work, as statistics show the
financial industry spend a greater
amount of money on renewing
their working environment because
of different lease contracts and
being more able to afford the
renovation costs of new offices. To
be able to re-invent the cabinets
to make them more interesting
and useful to use in today’s office
environments.
