Collaborative space for theatre and performing arts The purpose of this project is to research a sustainable preservation and renovation of historic buildings, in order to quantify the benefits of building reuse against that of new construction. One of the main advantages of older buildings is that a building already exists; therefore materials and the infrastructure may already be in place. Minor modifications can be made to adapt existing buildings to compatible new uses. The overall idea of the project is the investigation of the features, opportunities and possible futures for theatre and church and potential of maintaining two conflict programmes in one building. Based on the history of the site and its current conditions the aim is to create а collaborative space for theatre and performing arts with а range of spaces for workshops, storage and exhibitions. 02 01 X Church of St Mary Le Strand Westminster London WC2R 1ES 03 [01] Site Location Map [02] West Elevation [03] South Elevation
