‘Express yourself’
It is very hard to see the negatives
of the Olympics, when it has so
much good to offer, and of course
it will be wrong to dwell in the
negatives. However, I feel it will
be even worse to neglect the
short comings of the Olympics.
Throughout my project, I believe
I have discovered a hidden truth
of the Olympics in London 2012
and have gained the strong trust
that not all that glitters is gold.
The notion first stems from the Rio
2016 documentary – ‘The hidden
cities’. By which the documentary
explores the hidden areas the
Olympics that have been illustrated
as uninhabitable and abandoned,
when glorifying the cultured area
of Rio, hence the creation of my
cultural embracing community
centre. Looking into what makes a
house a home shelters, shells and
natural forms impacted the shape
of my community centre.
