24 Hour Market
My idea is to regenerate and
re-innovate a forgotten trade. My
scheme is to combine the City
of London Corporation’s three
markets (Billingsgate, Smithfields,
Spitalfields), therefore producing
an all in one stop and shop for
fresh foods. I want to create a
system where the restaurants are
in tune with the market place,
allowing people to fully understand
where the food has been sourced;
caught, raised and bred.
Billingsgate is located North of
Canary Wharf and is estimated to
cover 13 acres of prime real estate
(566280 sq ft). The site area can
be utilised to adopt this extended
programme, creating opportunities
for people to interact, and explore
their daily consumption of foods.
