Whànau House Whànau House is a response to the loneliness and separation of generations in modern society. The number of multi-generational households is increasing in cities, especially London, due to shortage and expense of housing. Typical modern housing is unsuitable for multi-generational households, because of the lack of space and privacy it offers. Whànau House is a proposal to adapt the generic residential tower block into a multi-gen vertical village, with communal eating, moveable walls within one flat and moveable walls between one floor to create a flexible space - an environment where older and younger members of the community are constantly supported and cared for. 02 X Surrey Quays Rd Southwark London, SE16 01 03 [01] Axonometric of Communal eating area.
