Scandinavian Building
The concept is going to be a
mixed used building which aims
to bring together three main
programs which will consist of
hotel, office and entertainment
facilities. The reason why I
decided to keep the existing
office program was due to the
fact that in the current financial
climate it is hard for people to
acquire new jobs As well as the
employment rate in the area of
Marsh Wall being at a low. This
is why the current office program
is being kept within my building
to allow for these workers who
are currently occupying existing
building to keep their jobs. The
reason why I am adding a hotel
program within the current
building is because I will want to
bring more tourists to the area
and allow them to not only be
within Canary Wharf but also
have the transport to get them in
and around the City of London.
Not only will the hotel be used
by tourists but also by people
who work within the area and are
unable to constantly travel into
Canary Wharf. The entertainment
program will be used to allow
for the p ublic to also interact
with the building and allow for
this part of Canary Wharf estate
to be more used. As currently
the building is being used as
an office which is fully private I
am allowed the building to have
some public areas which can be
used 24 hours.
