Floral Hall is the space which
represents the essence of
Covent Garden. The ground
floor reflects the main function
and history of the area- it is a
market space (which is the main
reason why Covent Garden
has evolved to its current state)
which in the evening changes
to a performance space (street
performance is another reason
why Covent Garden is so
famous). On the mezzanine
floor visitors can find a flower
shop which is designed with
a thought that Jubilee market
used to be called “Foreign
Flower Market” and used to sell
only flowers, that’s why I wanted
to bring back some of the
original history to the site.

Covent Garden has its own culture and value. When people plan to visit the area they know what they are willing to see and find. My design
increases the reputation and site value. Now tourists and local people can have another place to dine and enjoy the beautiful set of Covent Garden.
Upgraded market functions not only as a market anymore, it is a place to visit, to see new things, to enjoy entertainment and see Covent Garden
from another perspective. By bringing back the original name to the site- “Floral Hall” and inserting a flower shop I am reviving the history and
colourfulness that nature can give to a busy town. Floral Hall is now a new identity on the site, it has all these new functions as a building and is a
space to stay for a little bit longer than needed.

My design also gives an opportunity for people all around the world to have a safe space to perform. Artists struggle everyday to find a place where
they could show their talent and earn some extra money. Floral Hall contains a special area designated for audience where they could see the
performance from every corner and every level of the building. All the features that the building has attracts even more tourists and visitors, this
also helps market traders to sell more items. By selling more, earning more, getting more visitors and making them happy, the space notability is
increased.

Restaurant design similar to market. Only difference is that furniture

To design a shop and also have a connection with a building and its history I have looked at some old pictures of the site to find something that would suit the
flower shop. That is when I have found these old pictures of activities that people used to do in the past. People used to carry these baskets full of potatoes or
other vegetables on their heads and balance them- the winner would be the person who had the most baskets and actually made it to the finish line. By looking
at these baskets I have realised that they would be perfect to place flowers and it would connect to the past of the site.
