Final Major Project Report Concept Development Ark The Ark aims to preserve industrial heritage and a declining night music scene by creating a unique adaptable performance venue, being a counterpoint to over-commercialised performance spaces by focusing on local bands. The intervention bridges the gap between the residential and commercial urban landscape by providing a wild urban park encouraging interaction between musicians locals and concert goers. Themes of juxtaposition are explored with the new build defying the original gas holder structure, gaining influence via various architectural movements specific to Hackney such as brutalism, high tech and local industrial vernacular. This is to represent and relate to a diverse melting pot of culture such as Hackney. 03 06 04 07 08 01 X Marian Place Hackney London E2 9AX [01] Site plan. [02] Physical section cut model.
