Urban Escape
Urban Escape is a scheme
centred on creating a therapeutic
healing environment for hospital
patients to recover after receiving
treatment. An emphasis of the
scheme is put on “nature” and its
qualities of providing a healing
environment, beneficial to health
and well-being.
The aim of the project is to
provide a sense of escape
from the surrounding urban
environment, into an inviting
peaceful setting set back from the
clinical environment of an NHS
hospital. The site was selected
because of its close proximity
to Queen’s Hospital, Romford.
As a currently undeveloped
greenfield site, it offers a valuable
opportunity for a small- medium
scale healthcare facility.
