Silvertown Silo D’iversity The project supports and unifies the people of Silvertown, targeting high crime rates among the younger community (16-21 years old) associated with gang culture. As a resident of East London I understand the key aspects in designing for the site location. Silo’D’ is a grade II listed building that has historical significance having survived the bombing of World War II. I have designed a community centre, with the primary programme being multi-use activity spaces, aimed at changing the attitudes of the users and removing them from an ongoing negative cycle. The multi-use spaces will specialise in CrossFit, a sport which can be educational and can develop into career opportunities. The secondary programme is a spa, because there are minimal leisure facilities within Silvertown, Both programmes will be neighboured with a bar/café for social interactions. X Silo ‘D’. Why? to keep the crime low by giving the young people of the community a place to do activity and keep them away from crime. Trying to get the young to meet, get to know eachother after doing activity.
