By defining the nature of
‘fun’ in the 21st century, the
influence of the concept in the
‘Festival of Time’ evolved from
the atmospheric essence of
festivals, where the culture is a
community that enjoys exploring
the recreational and educational
activities through the control
of its users, in an environment
that is constantly on-going and
evolving. The structural system of
the programmes involved reflects
the past, present and future
represented through craft, spoken
word and technology workshops
influenced by the Royal
Observatory. The Festival lasts
for a short time, and recycled
for structures at other existing
festivals.
Acoustic Play
Acoustic Play recognises the
relationship between the public
and private activities which are
the key functions in the
multi-use building.

Designed for the ‘private,’ people
who work at the creative agency
Mother, and the ‘public’ being the
incoming travellers, the design
revolves around the need for
privacy and controlled sound
within the office balanced with the
hectic atmosphere of the public
space and integrating these
areas together. The movable
cladding system placed on the
perimeter of the office in the
centre, controls the acoustic
movement allowing sound to
either flow or to be disrupted. The
influence of landforms and terrain
had given a natural and organic
space, that aims for a comfortable
environment for all users.
