The proposal aims to look at the relationship between the chosen site and the close by education facilities . The principle of new development in the site is supported and allows for the opportunity to provide a sympathetic development and enhance the Grade II listed building . Residential development is a strategically supported use in a brownfield , sustainable urban location such as this . The existing listed building also offers the opportunity for conversion into residential use without the need for major adaptation or intervention . The proposed scheme assumes demolition of the two buildings adjacent , to the west of the Grade II listed Court building , both of which have been vacant for a number of years , to be removed along with the later additions / extensions to the north side of the Court building , as these are not deemed to be significant in heritage terms and this also facilitates more appropriate development to other areas , in the context of development of the overall site . The focused users are divided into three different groups ; visiting national and international teaching staff and students , people looking for a multi-use and adjustable space that can be used as a conference hall or an exhibition space and even able to host a variety of parties or events , lastly the general public that wish to experience a nature-integrated contemporary hotel , unlike any in the local area . The proposal then looks to provide a multi-use and multi-functional space as well as provide accommodation services to its users . |
