Located amongst the ancient woodland of Epping Forest. Forest Lodge straddles the border of Greater London and Essex. While in a rural setting, Epping Forest benefits from excellent transport links into and out of the city. Sitting on one of the only developed areas of land in the Forest. Forest Lodge upgrades the existing land use of a Motel to a Hotel and Spa. The design removes all existing boundaries, bringing the forest into the site by re-populating native trees. The focal point is the 10-storey ‘tree trunk’ structure that grows above the tree-line, allowing for spectacular views into the countryside and of the London skyline. The design utilises natural means of ventilation, form and materials inspired by the surrounding woodland, creating a unique revitalising experience for guests.
