BESPOKE
ARCHITECTURE
My project has been tailored for
the specific requirements and
desires of William Herschel,
focusing mainly upon his hobby
astronomy. Situated in Mill Hill,
he has requested an Observatory
to be built on the Ridgeway - not
only is this a prime position for
stargazing, but it also offers an
optimal view of the valley below.
As Mr Herschel has a particular
interest in the beauty of
Victorian telescopes, the
building incorporates the means
necessary in which such a
telescope can be suitably
situated.
The building operates on a
number of levels; providing a safe
home for his family, as well as
being a secluded private space
for the astronomer-at-heart escaping to his sanctuary in the
stars.
