Situated in Fitzrovia area and
adjacent to Warren Street
underground station the site
will be the final extension
of the University College
Hospital Oncology Department.
Specialised in children age group
of 0-14 it will be a separate ward
similar to the Macmillan centre.
Equipped with modern linear
accelerators and MLT’s allows
patients to be referred between
both centres when a further
treatment is needed.
The ward facilitate inpatient
and outpatient departments,
information and support centre,
as well as individual and
group therapies and classes.
The inpatient department can
accommodate 20 family suits
or extended to 40 beds. The
design goal is to ease visitor’s
experience and despite the
relatively small building to provide
a sense of spaciousness while
maintaining low noise levels. The
entire structure sits on reinforced
concrete foundations and post
tensioned ribbed concrete slabs
to allow the longer spans . A
modern glass facade provides
enough sun light.
