A Floating City
The project works to rejuvenate
the history of Canary Wharf being
the main import/export industry
of Britain, at one time the largest
in the world. The trading gave
London its prominence making
it a global city, not only that, the
industry was a major source of
employment in the area uniting
the residents bringing a sense of
community among the workers.
This is what I hope to revive
within the canary wharf area; it
has become a paradigm as the
focus of London’s new wealth
greatly contrasts the borough’s
high levels of inequality and child
poverty.
The infrastructure divides more
than it connects and drives out
the pre-existing community. The
scheme then becomes a literal
bridge between the existing site
and new wealth. the proposal
aims to encourage the potential
of a thriving arts, retail and
leisure society.
