Philip Garner, is the founder of Garner’s Garden.
Based in the Washington, DC, Garner’s Garden is the
fi rst American black owned business to manufacture
and produce a line of toothpaste and antibacterial
mouthwash. Garner’s oral care products are fl uoride-
free and use only all-natural ingredients such as
organic neem, tea tree oil, and peppermint oil.
marketing, Garner’s Garden had achieved over $65,000 in revenue
in 2016. 2017 would prove to be a banner year with sales reaching
$225,000.00. Working from his basement and using direct
marketing techniques combined with word of mouth, Garner is
set to move his operation to his fi rst offi cial warehouse location.
Today Garner’s Garden produces over 1,000 bottles per day.

Th e journey to a more natural oral product line began in 2011 and holding true to his purpose to “heal the world”.

Looking back on how his grandmother used olive oil for her
hands, Garner’s fi rst idea was to create an all-natural skin care
product line. Aft er product testing his products with friends and
family, he began selling them at local farmers markets throughout
the DC area. Aft er achieving some success, Mr. Garner expanded
his product line with hair care, face care, and oral care.
Turning the Corner
Aft er 2 years of street hustling his products at the local
farmers markets; Garner launched his e commerce site www.
garnersgarden.com in 2015. Th e fi rst year was a rough one
netting roughly $3,000 in sales. Undaunted, Garner stuck with it
