You have had several chart topping collaborations, would you say you have a favorite among them? I want to say that 50 cent was one of my favorite collaborations. In terms of music and being a business man, he is one of the biggest out there. Growing up listening to Get Rich or Die Tryin’-- and to have him respect me on a musical level meant a lot to me. Are you signed to a label currently? No, I’m still independent right now. We are having talks with labels right now, which is cool. I just don’t want to be signed anywhere. We have to make sure it’s the right situation for me and my career. Barklay is your clothing line, which is currently featured in six retail outlets. Can you share the inspiration behind this? It’s a Brooklyn thing, that is where I am from. It was inspired by the Barclay Center, a venue where the Nets play. This is important to me. It is all about inspiring people. I believe that with inspiration you start in your neck of the woods and let it spread from there. I wanted Brooklyn to have something to stand behind. The inspiration comes from everything about Brooklyn. Brooklyn over everything! That’s the motto. You just announced your participation in Summer Jam this year. Who will you be performing with? Right now I can’t let the cat out of the bag on that one. We have a lot of surprises in store. I do have several great artists making their debut along with me. Right now we are just talking, but I want to make sure that everything is solidified and locked in before I speak on it. What is next for Phresher? What’s next for me is this mixtape honestly. I am going to do a visual for every song on the mixtape. There are ten songs and I plan on doing ten visuals. You are going to see a lot of videos from Phresher. I don’t want to go a day without being in the spotlight. I want people to be annoyed lol--that’s how much I am going to be in your face. Don’t keep an eye out for me, keep both of them open. I’m coming! - TRISHA VAUGHN URBAN | 60
