AUTHOR INTERVIEW Madeline Rosenberg ULM: What inspired you to write Hot Mess? MR: Young adult r omance novels have been my inspiration for as long as I can remember. I enjoy watching romantic storylines play out in movies and on TV and I found it interesting how I would get attached to two characters who seemed in love and then to my dismay have the show break the characters up. I started writing Hot Mess a few years ago because I wanted to bring that excitement to readers with my own characters and storyline! It was exciting to develop the characters story and take them in a different direction than I had originally planned. sa, Chill uncle David and cousins in Potomac, Uncle Everett, Grandma and Grandpa (my grandma is my editor), all the rest of my family, friends (you know who you are!) and my boyfriend, Jack. Love you guys and thanks for everything! J ULM: For those who haven't heard of your fascinating novel, Hot Mess, can you share with readers what your novel is about? MR: Hot M ess is an addicting young adult romance novel based on the relationship of Anna McCormick and Trevor Sullivan. The story takes you through the laughs, tears and heartbreak- this is an easy and enjoyable read. Everyone has his or her own Clairetown crew - each character is relatable and probably like someone you know. Anna McCormick is every girl after a ULM: Which of your characters was break up - she is vulnerable and seeks attention in the wrong places. She is the easiest to create? easy to love and hate at the same time. Trevor Sullivan is almost too good to MR: My main char acter , Anna, is based off of myself. We have the same be true. He seems like he is perfect on appearance, clothing style and manner- the surface, but there is much more to him than meets the eye. Benji Shaw is isms. the "perfect" boy next door.
