Landing at Leonardo da Vinci–
Fiumicino Airport in the wee hours of
the morning is a delight, not because
of the glitzy Italian brand stores at
the airport but because you have
landed on Roman soil. I have always
been fascinated with literature and
movies about the Roman Empire, its
kings and queens and off course the
drama prone Vatican City.
A trip to Rome is as much about
lapping up the ‘dolce vita’ lifestyle as
feasting on art, culture and food. Few
cities can rival the heritage that
Rome has to offer from the
Colosseum, The Trevi fountain to the
Spanish steps, all drenched in
history.
